Shine, Glen Waverley by Bureaucrat

Following an early morning rendezvous, Beaker and I wandered over to Shine for mini breakfast.  It's been years since I've been to Shine. When it first opened about 8-10 years ago, it heralded the revamping of the central Glen Waverley area. Prior to then, GW was kinda sleepy and boring. Shine showed that GW could be a nice place to have a leisurely lunch, a place to get good coffee, on the weekends they have a live jazz band, and heck, you'd even say it made GW slightly bit hip.

In the early days, the food was great. I really loved their pizzas. But good things come to an end. As more cafes mushroomed, Shine got bought over, new management came in, and the quality declined... food wasn't as good and service dropped.. To me, it's like they got complacent. As there are many other great cafes, we went elsewhere for our food and to hang out.

To share, we got the Shine breakfast. Spinach, bacon, shrooms, tomatoes, eggs and sourdough bread. It was a reasonable brekky. Everything was done well but nothing exceptional about it.

We opted for some chai tea. Lovely, good flavour and properly made.

Overall
The food was slightly better than what I had last remembered it to be. Ditto the service. I may return back for a cuppa and a slice of cake. However, I still remain skeptical about coming back here for lunch or dinner... time will tell...

Verdict
Food – 6.5
Service – 7
Ambience – 7
Price – 7
